Mr Raza completed specialist training under supervision from Professor Duckworth who was one of the first Orthopaedic Surgeons who took interest in Foot and Ankle surgery. He invented the Pedobarography tool which is used to determine abnormal pressure in the foot.

Syed A Raza was a pioneer of Foot and Ankle surgery in Essex when there were very few surgeons specialising in this area around the country. Being a lead Foot and Ankle surgeon, he has more than 20 years of experience and has seen over 20,000 patients including management of ankle injuries in footballers from Southend United Football Club.

 

He has attended numerous national and international conferences and presented on a wide range of emerging topics in Foot and Ankle Surgery.

He was a member of the first British Ankle Arthroplasty team which introduced this operation in the UK. He has also introduced the use of Shockwave Therapy for the treatment of plantar fascitis (heel pain) and tendo-achilles tendonopathy (inflammation). This treatment has been highly successful in a large majority of patients over the last 10 years depending on their individual case.
